George Perrou

Inspired by mid-century animation, George Perrou forwent art school in lieu of Saturday morning tutelage of the Hanna-Barbera and Wanter Bros. cartoons of his youth.

With nods to Miro, Kandinsky and Calder, Perrou has created his own style by imagining things which he sees into his own colorful abstractions of reality and then recreates those images on to the canvas, using retro and modern colors in acrylic.

"I never work from sketches.  The image on the canvas morphs into what it is with little conscious direction from me...and I am often surprised at what it has become."

George lives and paints in Portland, Oregon, where he completed his first works at the age of 34.
